Points News is an independent service provider of award travel booking using points and miles. We do not provide booking of revenue (paid) airline tickets. We are not affiliated with any airline or travel agency and do not receive compensation from any airline or travel agency for our award travel booking services.
Taxes and fees
Airlines charge and collect taxes and fees in conjunction with booking any flight reservation, including both award tickets and revenue tickets. These fees are the sole responsibility of the customer and are independent of the booking fees charged by Points News. Taxes and fees may include but are not limited to passenger ticket taxes, flight segment taxes, international departure/arrival taxes, fuel surcharges, passenger facility charges, September 11th fees, customs user fees, immigration user fees, other foreign/domestic government fees, phone reservation fees, award reservation fees, baggage fees, seat selection fees, close-in booking fees, ticket change fees, ticket cancellation fees, miles redeposit fees, unaccompanied minor fees, and pet fees. Points News will provide recommendations for your itinerary that may reduce the amount of taxes and fees due.
Changes by customer
If you request our assistance with any voluntary changes to a confirmed and booked award itinerary, a new award booking request will occur and be charged the standard fee of $100 per passenger on the same itinerary. Changes by customer may include but are not limited to routing, date of travel, airline, origin, destination, and stopover. Any previously paid award booking fees for the original award reservation will not be refunded. Customer will be responsible for any additional taxes and fees that may be assessed by the issuing airline in conjunction with a voluntary itinerary change.
Changes by airline
Airlines may make changes to their flight schedules that affect your itinerary after your award reservation has been confirmed and booked. Points News will not be held responsible or liable for any expenses you may incur as a result of a flight schedule change by the carrier on your booked itinerary. Points News will assist you in making any itinerary changes as a result of an airline’s flight schedule change. No fee will be charged for assistance with a booked award reservation itinerary change that is involuntary and due to an airline flight schedule change.
Points News provides award booking services on a per booking basis at the rate of $100 per passenger on the same itinerary. An additional $25 per passenger will be due for departure within 7 days. Customer agrees to submit payment within 24 hours to Points News for services after being informed that an acceptable itinerary has been found based on the customer’s award booking reservation requests (date, destination, class of service). Due to instances of non-payment and customers taking advantage of Points News award booking service, exact itinerary details and reservation number will be provided to customer only after full payment via PayPal to Points News for services.
Customer agrees to pay Points News a 3% surcharge when using a credit card via PayPal to submit payment for services.
Points News does not provide a refund of payment for any services rendered after exact itinerary details and reservation number have been provided to customer.
If you choose to cancel a confirmed and booked award reservation, Points News will provide advice on your best strategy to redeposit your miles. Any and all fees paid to Points News for the original award reservation booking will not be refunded. Customer is responsible for any fees charged by the issuing airline in conjunction with the cancellation of an award reservation and subsequent redeposit of miles into customer’s account.
Points News will not be held responsible or liable for any expenses you may incur for situations outside of our control that may affect your award reservation, including but not limited to airline employee strike, airline shutdown, government shutdown, political unrest, inclement weather, and airline reservation error. Points News will assist you in making any itinerary changes as a result of a situation outside of our control that is due to any airline, government, or act of God. Points News will not be held responsible or liable for any aircraft equipment change or the actions of any airline on a confirmed and booked award reservation. Due to constantly changing award flight availability, Points News makes no guarantee of any specific flight or class of service availability if an itinerary change is necessary after the original award booking.
Points News shares independent opinions about airlines, hotels, financial institutions, and travel service providers. The opinions and information shared have not been reviewed, approved, endorsed, or commissioned by any airline, hotel, financial institution, or travel service provider. Points News does not receive any financial compensation or otherwise from any airline, hotel, financial institution, or travel service provider for the content contained on this website. Points News does not provide financial planning or tax advice. Credit card applications are at the sole discretion and decision of each individual. Points News will not be held liable or responsible for any financial consequence or otherwise resulting from any credit card applications.
Points News is committed to protecting your privacy. Your personal information will not be sold to any other company or third-party. Points News does not collect web server information except for the purpose of tracking website visits and monitoring site performance. This information includes but is not limited to IP address, operating system, browser detail, referral page source, time/date of visit, number of pages clicked, and duration of visit.
